Iran Produces Allergy Vaccine

allergy vaccine TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iran for the first time produced an internationally-approved anti-allergy vaccine, a member of Iran's Biotechnology Research Center said.

Dr. Shakour Omidi, who is a member of the research team of the project, said that the vaccine has been produced through cooperation between Biotechnology Research Center and the Association for Supporting Diabetic Patients.

Experimental hay fever vaccine effective

BALTIMORE, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Baltimore researchers have successfully used an experimental DNA-based vaccine to protect against ragweed allergies, commonly known as hay fever.

Patients receiving the vaccine showed an average 60 percent reduction in allergy symptoms compared to those receiving a placebo, say researchers at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
